PRIVACY POLICY

Department of Obscure Studies · obscurestudies.com
Effective 11 July 2026. The Department takes your privacy more seriously than it takes itself.

WHO WE ARE

The Department of Obscure Studies ("the Department", "we") operates obscurestudies.com and sells apparel and sundry goods through third-party marketplaces. Questions about this policy: hello@news.obscurestudies.com.

WHAT WE COLLECT

HOW WE USE IT

Subscriber emails are used solely to send the Monthly Dispatch — roughly one email per month — and nothing else. Interests you select determine which divisional bulletins you receive. Every dispatch contains an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

WHAT WE NEVER DO

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise misplace your personal information. We do not send marketing on behalf of third parties. We do not build advertising profiles.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

The subscriber list lives in our own database. We use Brevo as our email delivery service; your address passes through their systems solely to deliver our mail, under their data processing terms. Purchases are made on the marketplaces we link to (Redbubble, TeePublic) — those transactions are governed by their privacy policies; we never see your payment details.

SOCIAL PLATFORMS

The Department publishes its own catalog imagery to its own social accounts (for example, via the Pinterest API). These integrations post our content outward; they do not collect, access, or process other users' personal data.

YOUR RIGHTS

Email us to ask what we hold about you (it will be one row, at most), to correct it, or to have it deleted. Deletion requests are honored promptly and without bureaucratic ceremony, which for this Department is saying something.

CHANGES

If this policy changes materially, the effective date above changes with it and material changes will be noted in the Dispatch.
